Renewing your passport can be done any time at a cost of £72.50 via Post. Alternatively you can use the Post offices Passports Check & Send service; this is slightly more expensive at a cost of £81.25. Any time you have left on an existing passport will be added on to your one (up to a maximum of 9 months).

Please note that it can take AT LEAST 3 weeks to receive your passport; if you need one urgently then there are other services you can use. For more information ring the Passport office now on 0844 330 3556.

NOTE – due to heavy demand, applications can take longer between April and September so please apply as soon as you can. Do not book any travel until you have a UK valid passport.

If you are living in the UK you can apply online and then Her Majesty’s Passport Office will send it back to the stated address for you to check and sign and send back. Alternatively you can pick up a form from the post office and fill it in and take it back to use the Post Office’s check and send service. Within your application you will need to include 2 identical pictures of yourself. If you do not, your application can be delayed. It is important that the photographs are suitable to use in your Passport. If they are not your application may be rejected. Payment for your new passport, if you are applying by post, can be made by debit of credit card by completing the appropriate section of the form, or by cheque or Postal Order, (payable to HM Passport Office). You can begin to track your passport 3 weeks after you have sent off your application.

If you apply by post it is recommended that you use Special or Recorded Delivery. The Passport Office will not be responsible for any applications or supporting documents that you send.

In most cases, your new passport will be delivered by a Courier between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, or it may come by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.

If your Passport is being delivered by Royal Mail you will need to sign for it. If you are not at home they will leave a calling card explaining how you can rearrange delivery, or collect from your local, sorting office. You should do this quickly as any uncollected Passports will be returned to the Passport Office after 7 days.

LOST AND STOLEN PASSPORTS

If you have lost your Passport or it has been damaged, or you believe it has been stolen, then you will need to replace it. You should report this as soon as possible to the Passport Customer Support team on 0844 330 3556

The Passport office is solely responsible for civil registration services through the general register office and is the only issuer of United Kingdom Passports. Her Majesty’s Passport office is an executive agency of the home office. The name was changed from ‘The Identity and and Passport Service’ in May 2013. It was first established in 2006 and provides trusted passport operations and and accurate and secure records of key events.

HM Passport Office is responsible for the administration of civil registrations in England and Wales and providing passport services to British nationals who live in the United Kingdom and providing services in association with partners Foreign and Commonwealth offices to those residing overseas.
